Gilbert Regional Park
SW Corner Queen Creek & Higley
Super exciting news came across my desk when I saw the Gilbert Republic article about the new 272-acre park coming to Gilbert. The design of Phase 1 is already underway. The design process is expected to conclude by June 2018. Proposed features for Phase 1 include a play structure accessible to people with disabilities, six tennis courts, sand volleyball, and eight pickle ball courts. In addition, Phase 1 is proposed to include a lake approximately 8 acres in size, an epic playground, a splash pad, and a restroom facility. The first phase of construction is anticipated to be completed by the end of summer 2019.
According to the Gilbert Republic, the completion of the park carries a potential 10-year timeline, a $100-million price tag and something that the mayor says can be enjoyed "for generations to come."
